Starting as gifts for friends and loved ones, I thoroughly enjoy re-imagining those I care about in illustrations that would bring them some sense of joy. I truly love seeing their reactions to these, it makes it all the more worth while. For all of these posters I used Procreate.

Sivani (Sav)

due to their shady remarks, the nickname sav the savage was born. As Sav’s been a comic book fan from a young age, I wanted to fulfil their teenage fantasy as a modern anti-hero. Their companions, their beloved dogs; Mavis on the left and Dylan on the right.

As Sav has a creative flare, with their customised bikes, I kept the poster bright and colourful much like their designs.

Continuing this trilogy for their 30th birthday, I wanted to celebrate the more edgy side of Sav with a much darker and sleeker design, inspired by their favourite Batman comics. The neon sign, pays homage to Catwoman in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns (1992). Their powers are inspired by Storm, another favourite of theirs growing up.

Inspired by a playful nickname for our Olive (Fungyal), as well as her Bohemian styled room and French Art Nouveau Posters, I wanted to create something that explores her hippy and psychedelic side. Still keeping a modern South London edge with her hoops and jewellery, her iconic long hair is wreathed with a variety of mushrooms and leaves. The colour scheme is in keeping with her warm and bold personality.

Olive

Olive has been a fan of Avatar and convinced me to watch it. We actually ended up watching most of it together and I could understand the appeal and adoration for the show.

Due to this, I wanted to pay homage to her love for the show, depicting her as the Avatar. As Olive is also known for her distinctive burps, it felt only right to alter the title.

Cartoon Saloon’s The Secret of Kells (2009) is a favourite of this couple. Inspired by their animation style, particularly for Wolfwalkers (2020), I wanted to create a celtic poster for these two. In Wolfwalkers, the human characters are able to shift into the body of wolves, something I wanted to incorporate for these posters but in bear form.

Lulu the black cat, Zaki’s late beloved pet, is featured as their companion. Their poster consists of more earthy warm colours which I associate to zaki. Their key is also around their neck, a family tradition of Palestine.

Zaki

Adrian’s poster has more cool tones, their clothing’s inspired by Hawaiian and Korean culture, a blend of their heritage.

Lola

inspired by lola’s varied tattoos, this began to feel as unique as Lola, reminding me of cabinet’s of curiosities. In that vain, I incorporated some more traditional illustration styles with a modern feel, such as the marble bust and scientific equations (a nod to their interest in the subject).

Lola is rarely seen with out a bandana, it only felt right to adorn peaches with this print as Peach is their surname. A Liverbird and the Liverpool slogan, a small Magnums bottle and hidden away is their late beloved cat Biscuit.

Zaki

As Zaki is a huge fan of D&D, World of Warcraft and all things fantasy, I wanted to re-create their image as an orc warrior.
In the background there are references to their Palestinian heritage; the orange trees, a red poppy field, a sunbird and their key around their neck.

Adobe contest

For her hit single “Rain on me” from her album “Chromatica”, Lady Gaga paired up with adobe for a creative contest. This was my submission. We had a selection of images and typographic work to incorporate into our design.

This is the only poster on this page done in photoshop.
